PRIVACY.
OwnTheWord collects the minimum data needed to take payment, publish a sponsored placement and keep the service safe.
WHAT WE COLLECT
Public placement data: display name, destination URL, optional X handle, word, amount and successful activity. Private operational data: contact email, payment identifiers, timestamps, status, fraud and security signals, and standard server logs such as IP address and user agent.
WHY WE USE IT
To create and fulfill placements, process and reconcile payments, handle refunds and disputes, contact purchasers about their transaction, prevent abuse, respond to legal complaints, operate the service and comply with law.
FIRST-PARTY TRAFFIC COUNTS
OwnTheWord uses an anonymous, first-party browser token to count visitors and estimate who is online. The token is stored in an HTTP-only cookie, converted to a keyed hash before storage and never used for advertising profiles. No third-party analytics SDK runs on the site.
PAYMENT PROCESSING
An approved payment provider will process card details when payments open. OwnTheWord does not receive or store full card numbers. The provider processes information under its own privacy terms.
SHARING AND RETENTION
Data may be shared with infrastructure, payment and professional service providers only as needed, and with authorities where legally required. Records are kept for operational, accounting, fraud, dispute and legal needs, then deleted or anonymized when no longer necessary.
